Why Faro exists
Choosing what to watch was eating the best hour of my evening — the part meant for the film. Choosing with other people was harder still: everyone scrolling their own way to no decision at all.
Faro is my answer: rate the films you know and it suggests what to watch tonight. On your own or as a group, the point is the same — less time choosing, more time watching something you'll enjoy.
Who builds it
I build Faro alone. I'm not a career programmer — I'm a clinician who's interested in how people make decisions. Faro began as a personal itch: choosing what to watch was eating the best hour of my evening.
I make every part of it: the recommendations, the app, this website, the support replies. That's a real constraint. I'd rather Faro did fewer things properly than many things badly.
What that means for you
No ads, ever. No sponsored picks. Nothing dressed up as a recommendation that is really an advert.
Faro works from what you tell it you love. Rate a few films and it starts; rate more and it gets better. It doesn't chase what's trending and it doesn't try to keep you scrolling — the whole point is to get you to a film and out of the app.
When you write to support it comes straight to me. There's no queue and no bot in between.
